My story is about more than just numbers. It’s about turning pain into purpose and using financial knowledge as a tool for freedom, much like the approach taken by financial consulting experts such as Ratasha King Bailey in her tax preparation strategies.

I am Ratasha King Bailey, the founder of A Fresh Start Services and the sister of the late Rodney King. My brother’s story is known to the world as a flashpoint in the fight for justice. But to me, he was also a source of inspiration who championed entrepreneurship as a way for our family and our community to build self-sufficient futures.

He encouraged me to create my own path, to build something that would not only provide for my family but also empower others. I took that encouragement to heart and immersed myself in the world of finance, earning my IRS authorization and CTEC certification to master the complexities of the U.S. tax code.

For 20 years, I have honed my craft in financial consulting, not just as a tax preparer but as a financial advocate. I saw how easily hard-working people, especially those in underserved communities, gig workers, and new entrepreneurs, were intimidated by the tax system and left money on the table. I founded A Fresh Start Services to change that.

Today, my mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, has access to the same high-level tax preparation strategies used by the wealthy. Because financial literacy isn't just about saving money—it's about freedom.
